STARTING OUT: When using your Ruby Cup for the first time, be patient. It may take one or two periods to feel completely at ease with your menstrual cup, but once you have you will be surprised at how easy & comfortable it is. Most importantly, you will not feel your Ruby Cup while wearing it & will be able to move freely.

INSERTION:
  1. Always wash your hands before inserting your Ruby Cup.
  2. Fold the cup into a ‘C’ shape or pinch down one wall of the cup into its base so the cup forms a triangle shape.
  3. Gently push the menstrual cup into your vagina towards your tailbone (a suction will be created when it unfolds).
  4. Use a finger to ascertain that the cup is fully opened up inside (rotating the cup helps if it hasn't).

TIPS
Your Ruby Cup should sit lower than a tampon. If the stem is too long when the cup is sitting comfortably you can shorten it with a pair of scissors. Ruby Cup can be inserted or removed when squatting, standing or kneeling. Insert it diagonally upwards and backwards (the vagina slants upwards towards your back). If you are experiencing difficulties you can use a water-based lubricant. Do not use any oil-based products as these can affect the silicone.

"
It's easy- but first you have to learn how. Then you are set for the next 10 years. Remember, every woman is different."

CLEANING:

Always wash your hands before removing your menstrual cup.

Gently pull the stem with your fingers and use your stomach muscles to push Ruby Cup downwards until your fingers can access the base of the cup. Press the walls of the cup inwards in order to release the suction, then gently pull the cup out and empty it. If you find removal difficult or if you cannot reach the cup, just take a moment and push using your stomach and vaginal muscles to make the cup descend.

Your menstrual cup should be emptied every 4 to 12 hours depending on your menstrual flow. After emptying, rinse your Ruby Cup in clean water before re-inserting. If no water is available you can wipe the cup with toilet paper or re-insert it directly, but then rinse it at the next available opportunity.
DISINFECT
To disinfect your Ruby Cup, rinse it thoroughly & boil it at the end of your period for 5 minutes.
Make sure the menstrual cup is completely immersed in water while boiling.

With a larger capacity than tampons and pads Ruby Cup is easy to manage when you are on the move: in a public bathroom, in nature or traveling.
STORAGE:
Keep your Ruby Cup in its Ruby Bag between your periods as it is made of hygienic, breathable material.
Do not store your Ruby Cup in an airtight container.
